Another meaningless Facebook poll: After Tiger Woods’ apology, do you forgive him?

I have two questions regarding this. One, why does Tiger Woods owe me an apology? Second, does he really need my forgiveness?

Tiger Woods has done nothing to cause me harm, grief or offense. Yeah, he was unfaithful to his wife and slept around with some women. He’s not the first man to commit adultery and he probably won’t be the last. I certainly don’t approve of adultery but I’m not going to hold it against him.

Since he has not caused me any harm, grief or offense, he doesn’t specifically need my forgiveness, not that he’s ever asked for it. But if it will make him feel better and help him get his life together, here it is — “Tiger, I forgive you. Now don’t let it happen again.”

BARF Therapy

Pay no attention to that man in the dark little room at the end of the house. He’s just doing what he finds necessary to keep his sanity. He is, to borrow a phrase from the late Douglas Adams, mostly harmless.

Really, the noises, the obscenities, the ranting and raving coming from the man-cave are not any cause for concern. I’m having what I call a BARF Storm. Instead of bottling up all of my anger and frustration inside, I let it spew out of me and after a few minutes, I’m fine. It’s kind of like primal scream therapy but not as intense.

BARF is an acronym meaning Bitterness, Anger, Resentment & Frustration. I used to have frequent BARF storms while commuting to and from the stress and frustration filled environment that was my last full-time job. Not all the BARF was work-related, some of it came from other sources. I’ve been calmer in recent months but, occasionally, there is still the need to let it all out. These days my most common source of frustration is technology, followed closely by traffic. Pressure builds up and has to be released. There are far worse ways to release it.

had dinner @ BE. Waited 30 min for food. They knocked $5 off the bill. Food was good but not 30 minutes good.
ACPI working properly on laptop now after tweaking /boot/grub/menu.lst. It even shuts down correctly. Alright!

Enjoying my solitude today … in the usual way.
Still aches though not sure if it’s same or new. Raising BP. Feel tired. Tools organized. Cats have clean place to poop.

Spending Friday in the preferred state for as long as possible.
MAC or PC? PC cuz it’s what I’m familiar with. But moving from Windows to Linux for stability and cost. Runs well on older PCs.

Had that dream where I was the only one naked. In this dream everyone was totally oblivious to my nudity. It was no big deal. Cool, eh?

Watched the Blues Bros movie. Love that movie. Great music. Worth owning for the music alone.
BSOD this morning. Vacuumed & reseated RAM. Is good now. May have to upgrade to XP. AD won’t like it but can work around with local script.
WP 2.8.1 is out. Facing painful upgrade on FrankenWeb. Permissions are correct, yet they’re not. Don’t want to 777 everything.
I’ve been watching Wild Pacific on Discovery, fascinating series.
Moved from Wild Pacific to Futurama. I like Matt Groening’s vision of the future. A future in which I can conspire to commit public nudity.

We’ve all had brain farts from time to time. I know I’ve had my share of them. I saw a TV ad for KGB and had the presence of mind to write down the definition.

Brain Fart: The involuntary release of ignorance.

What do you call the voluntary and/or deliberate release of ignorance? A brain shit? Cerebral diarrhea? Inquiring minds want to know. For what it’s worth…

Banned in ‘Bama

Alabama joins Michigan in censoring/banning nudity on labels for alcoholic beverages. Just what is the connection between nudity and alcohol that seemingly makes the two incompatible?

The Alabama Beverage Control Board has deemed that an art poster from 1895 is pornographic, forcing distributors to remove a wine bearing its image from stores across the state. The offending label carries a reproduction of an art poster done in 1895 by an unknown Parisian artist introducing the Cycles Gladiator bicycle. The poster depicts a nude woman with flowing red hair essentially flying through space with a bicycle.

The ABC claims the issue is that the label was not approved by the board. However, Hahn Family Wines of Napa Valley, California, producer of the wine, claims that the board did approve the label in 2006 and has been selling the wine in all 50 states and around the world without complaints. They’re dutifully pulling their product from Alabama shelves and are contemplating whether to change the label for wine sold in Alabama or not sell it in the state at all. They only sell about 500 cases a year in Alabama. As Bill Leigon, president of Hahn Family Wines, points out, “It’s still available in the other 49 states.”

Repression in a recession

This is just a casual observation but have you ever noticed that in times of austerity and recession, governments tend to become more repressive, focusing already limited and stretched resources on matters that really don’t matter at all? This seems especially true of state and local governments. Again, just an observation, for what it’s worth.

National Commando Day

The first ever National Commando Day is July 31, 2009. The idea behind the day is to support prostate cancer awareness.

National Commando Day is when people will practice being unbound by their underwear together. A new level of freedom and unity will emerge knowing that others have also decided to free themselves.

Prostate cancer is a disease that men don’t like to talk about but maybe they should. Personally, I don’t have a problem with my annual prostate exam. Sure, it’s a little uncomfortable but compared to surgery or chemo therapy, it’s a minor inconvenience.

Actually, I don’t need a special day to go commando. I enjoy the freedom and comfort of it everyday (except when the cold winter wind tests my frosticles) but prostate cancer awareness is a good reason. Can I get a button to wear?
