"Nudity is our ideal state, our pure state, our natural state, our default state. Clothing is always a deviation from the default and is, therefore, a compromise and an aberration.."

"Body shame originates in our minds with our thoughts and perceptions. Neither our religion nor our culture makes us ashamed of our bodies, only our belief that we should be ashamed. Shame comes from our own thoughts which we have the power to change. If we perceive no shame then there is none. No one can make you feel ashamed without your permission."

24 hours of nudity

I subscribe to a Tumblr feed called “Just Shower Thoughts” which is basically thoughts that might pop into your head while you’re taking a shower. Now and then, I see one that causes me to stop and think.

I saw this one today: “We are born naked, but most people never live a 24 hour period naked in their life.”

I think there may be some truth to that statement. Aside from sleeping, I can’t recall ever being nude for more than a few hours at a stretch. Perhaps while visiting a nudist camp I may have been nude continuously for maybe five or six hours at the most. This past Saturday, I may have been nude for four or five hours and then had to get dressed to travel to the house party where I was naked for a little over three-and-a-half hours. That may have been longest total time I’ve been nude in a single day but it wasn’t continuous.  That might be a personal achievement to shoot for.

Of course, there are many nudists and naturists who do spend extensive periods of time without wearing a single item of clothing along with some other special cases.
